Who is behind these research studies?

The User Research team, which is part of the User Experience group, generally runs the studies. As User Researchers, we try to understand how users use our products and how those products could be designed to better meet your needs. We take your feedback and work with our designers and strategists to improve the usability of our products and apps.

Who can sign up to participate in a study?

We like to get feedback from a variety of users so any Kronos user can sign up. It doesn’t matter your age, location, role, or job level. Refer your colleagues, too!

When and how will I be contacted for a study?

Shortly after signing up you’ll receive an e-mail from us confirming your enrollment. When we have an opportunity that suits you, we’ll reach out to you via e-mail or phone. This may not be immediate so please be patient.

What will I be doing during the study?

Each study is different so when we contact you with an opportunity we’ll explain details of the session. In general, we will have you tell us or show us what you like or don’t like about using our products and how they help or hinder your daily job responsibilities. Here are examples of the types of studies you might participate in:

  • Phone interview
  • Online survey
  • Usability study – you get to test out a prototype of a new design
  • On-site visit – at your work environment to learn more about your space

How long will the study take?

On average, sessions take about one hour. Depending on the study type, the session could be as short as 30 minutes (e.g., brief phone interview) or take up to 2-3 hours (e.g., on-site visit). When we have a study for you, we’ll reach out with all of the details including what you’ll be doing and how long it will take.

We can be flexible to your schedule, too. If you’re only available for 45 minutes, we’ll take what we can get. We know you have a job to get back to.

What if I can’t participate while I’m at work?

We understand that it may be difficult to find time to participate while you’re at work. We can be flexible in scheduling the session and try our best to accommodate your schedule even if it means an early or later start on our end. You can let us know times you’re not available when we reach out to you with an opportunity.

What equipment do I need?

The type of equipment you’ll need will depend on the study type. When we contact you for participation, we’ll let you know what you need ahead of time.

You may need a computer with internet access, mobile phone, tablet, or webcam. Not having this equipment won’t necessarily exclude you from a study; we can usually make things work.

Where will the study take place?

Most of our studies occur remotely so you can participate from anywhere as long as you have a computer, phone, and internet connection. However, sometimes it’s better to complete these sessions in-person – we may ask to come to you to see how you use Kronos in your work environment or we may ask you to join us at our headquarters in Lowell, MA.

What do I get for participating?

Your feedback will enhance Kronos’ products and ultimately make your work life easier and more efficient.
