As chief product officer and head of cloud operations at Kronos, Jim Welch is responsible for driving business strategy while overseeing the company’s global product organization, support services, and manufacturing and supply chain operations. He plays a critical role in continuing the company’s path of innovation and commitment to revolutionizing the way organizations across the globe manage their workforces – culminating in the launch of Workforce Dimensions, the next generation of workforce technology powered by the Kronos D5™ platform with a breakthrough user experience and unprecedented levels of operational insight to help organization work their way, work smarter, and work in the modern cloud.
Welch’s 30-year career in product development is both broad and global in scope. Most recently, as president and chief executive officer of Marathon Technologies, Welch facilitated an impactful business transformation including establishment of a channel strategy, strategic product vision, and the raising of funds – all of which ultimately drove double-digit, top-line growth for the company.
Prior to Marathon, Welch led the worldwide product development organization for IBM’s information platform and solutions business where he oversaw a 1,100-person global organization across 14 locations in eight countries, with responsibility for six distinct product groups. His success in this capacity led to him assuming the role of vice president and general manager of IBM InfoSphere, a high-growth software business recognized by industry influencers as the vision and execution leader in its market category.
Welch holds a master’s degree in business administration from Bentley University and a bachelor’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
