LAS VEGAS, Nov. 05, 2007 — Further demonstrating its commitment to empowering organizations to effectively manage their workforce, Kronos® Incorporated today announced the winners of its ninth annual Best Practices Awards. The awards recognize individuals and organizations that have been innovators and have achieved unprecedented value and success through the effective implementation and deployment of Kronos solutions. The winners of this year's awards are The Arc of Baltimore, Circuit City Stores, Cleveland Clinic, The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, ND Logistics UK Ltd., and VCU Health System. Kronos presented awards to these outstanding organizations during the opening session at KronosWorks™, the industry's largest venue for exchanging ideas in how to effectively manage the workforce, being held this week in Las Vegas.
"This year's Best Practices Awards winners are achieving excellence in the way they use technology to manage their workforce," stated Aron Ain, Kronos chief executive officer, during opening remarks at KronosWorks. "They are leveraging Kronos' expertise and solutions to help their organizations achieve the optimal environment for hiring the best people and maximizing their performance."
The Arc of Baltimore, one of the nation's largest agencies addressing the needs of people with developmental disabilities, was recognized for innovative use of products, training, and services that help the organization fulfill its mission — and provide support for individuals in a large array of employment, residential, and other community settings. With Kronos' workforce management solution, The Arc has achieved total staffing management, resulting in significant cost savings and assurance that employees are meeting the needs of the individuals they support.
Circuit City Stores, a leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics and services, was recognized for its attention to detail and creative approach to improving both the candidate experience and the lifecycle of an employee. By linking Circuit City's values to its hiring assessments with Kronos' selection and hiring solution, the company is driving quality hiring and business productivity.
Cleveland Clinic, one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the country, was recognized for a successful, large-scale implementation leading to measurable improvements. After completing one of the most extensive pilot programs in Cleveland Clinic's history, the hospital rolled out Kronos for Healthcare to more than 34,000 employees in 32 locations.
The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, serving the water and electric needs of Kansas City, was recognized for a superior implementation resulting in a rapid return on investment. By clearly defining and adhering to the critical success factors for the Kronos implementation, the Kansas City BPU deployed the workforce management solution quickly to deliver superior value to the organization and its customers. With proper planning and execution of the stated goals, the Kansas City BPU is realizing a nine-month return on investment and a reduction in yearly payroll costs of at least one percent.
ND Logistics UK Ltd., a premier transport and logistics company operating across Europe, was recognized for using its Kronos relationship to improve employee satisfaction and to take the company to the next level of workforce optimization. In an effort to achieve 100 percent payroll accuracy, track productivity of 24/7 warehouse operations, and manage the workforce efficiently, ND Logistics UK implemented a Kronos solution. With Kronos' biometric badge terminals linked with Passport's inTime product, the company is able to record staff transfers for increased visibility into hours worked per activity.
Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS), central Virginia's only academic medical center and a leader in healthcare and medical research, was recognized for superior change management and achieving stated objectives. By proactively communicating the plan to implement Kronos workforce management ahead of time, developing internal advertising campaigns, and taking staff through an effective training schedule, VCUHS paved the way for a successful implementation and continued best practices within the organization. Significant cost savings have also enabled VCUHS to invest in other critical information technology areas.
