Ladbrokes Selects Kronos to Optimise Workforce Management for 15,000 Employees

22, November 2006 — Ladbrokes, the world's leading bookmaker, has selected Kronos Incorporated to optimise staff scheduling and to create an efficient time management and payroll system for the company's 15,000 employees across 2,150 betting shops in the UK. The use of the Kronos Workforce Central® suite will extend to their Head Office, telephone betting call centres, and customer service centres.

"We required a centralised timekeeping and scheduling system to improve efficiency, particularly as for the first time we are able to open our shops in the evenings during winter under changes incorporated in the 2005 Gambling Act," said Dominic Matthews, Operations Director Ladbrokes. "Our confidence in the capability of the team from Kronos to manage a project of this size and their excellent fit with our business were both key factors in selecting the product. Knowing they have successfully implemented many other large projects gives us confidence that we'll hit our timescales of rolling out to our 2,150 shops."

With this number of locations and employees our payroll administration is currently a time consuming manual process at Ladbrokes. With Kronos, Ladbrokes will further develop their staff scheduling system that analyses historical sales and customer traffic to create the optimum schedules for each betting shop. Automated time recording will remove layers of manual administration, improve the quality of data available and create real-time analysis of labour costs versus budget. Managers will have improved accountability for running their shops and supervisors will spend more time adding value to the business.

"Ladbrokes has re-invented the betting shop with its investment in technology over the years and its investment in back-office systems for timekeeping and staff scheduling will further improve the customer experience," said Keith Statham, Managing Director of Kronos U.K. "Real-time availability of information, and improved scheduling and payroll administration, are key to the continuing success of Ladbrokes."
