Paying More and Getting Less
While the U.S. spends more money per capita on medical care than any other industrialized nation in the world, the overall quality of care is declining while healthcare costs continue to climb.
There may be a solution. A recent study showed that 85 percent of hospital and healthcare executives believe that consumers would benefit if hospitals better addressed their controllable expenses, such as labor and workforce-related issues.
It's a difficult objective at best. "Curing a Sick System," a study conducted by IDC and sponsored by Kronos, revealed a large perception disconnect between consumers and executives concerning the ability of the healthcare industry to control costs, especially in light of these alarming trends:
But it's not all bad news. In fact, this study shows how saving the system saves consumers money an achievable goal by improving workforce management.
