Kronos® Establishes Presence in India
Hires industry expert to manage operation
CHELMSFORD, Mass., May 8, 2007 Kronos® Incorporated (Nasdaq: KRON) today announced it has deepened its presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region by establishing a wholly owned subsidiary in India. Among the fastest-growing economies in the world, with a labor force of 509 million, India represents a significant market opportunity for Kronos. Through its direct sales channel and partner network, Kronos now offers coverage across APAC in Australia, China, India, and Southeast Asia.
Establishment of its India operation is part of Kronos' continued thrust into fast-growing markets to serve and support the global workforce management needs of multinational organizations. Launch of the India subsidiary, with headquarters in Bangalore, positions Kronos to locally support its existing customers who are rapidly expanding their India operations. Formation of the subsidiary also positions Kronos to capitalize on the growing demand for workforce management solutions throughout the region by adding to its client roster which already includes several large installations in India. With vertical solutions for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and services, Kronos is positioned to emerge as the leading provider of workforce management in India.
"India's economic boom offers a tremendous opportunity for Kronos to provide industry-leading workforce management solutions to our multinational customers who are establishing operations in India, as well as to the growing India services industry," said Kronos chief executive officer Aron Ain. "Establishing Kronos in India represents another strategic move in our quest to become the premier global provider of solutions for managing the workforce."
Industry expert to oversee India operation
Kronos has appointed James Thomas managing director of its India operation. A native of India, Thomas brings extensive experience in management, sales, and business development to Kronos and a deep understanding of the India market and the IT services and partnering ecosystem in India. Thomas joined Kronos from Oracle Corporation, where he was responsible for forging strategic alliances and managing technology channels for Oracle in the APAC region. Prior to overseeing alliances and channels, Thomas held a variety of sales management roles with Oracle and Satyam Infoway in Bangalore.
